First Video

If you have:

a) Made your Pixture,
 b) Taken the Editing Quiz,
c) Created  your Three Short Videos, and
d) Taken the Shots Quiz…

Then you are ready for the first real video project.

 Project 4. Due Friday, 2/24.

Shoot and edit a 30 second video. It should be a Public Service Announcement (PSA) about one of the rules from our school handbook. You should use your PSA comic as a sort of storyboard for the video
What we’re looking for:

  • Use a script. (Use your comic as a starter.)
  • The three main types of shots.
  • Titles that help to emphasize the message.
  • At least 7 cuts/shots.
  • Emphasis of the message and the reason behind the rule.
  • About 30 seconds.
  • Voice-over.
  • Music and sound effects.
  • Keep dialogue to a minimum.

Editing Lesson

When you are finished with your PSA cartoon, but before we turn that into a video, we’re going to learn a little something about editing. Editing is probably the most important part of the video creation process.

Go here and read the lesson on Editing and then do the quiz with your partner. Turn it in with both names on it.

Then practice with the editing exercise.

Learning about Shots.

Partners,

After you have finished your PSA comic, and you have done the editing exercise, please folllow the link for the Shots section of  Video Production 101.

Then get a copy of the quiz, circle your answers, and bring it to me with both names. Both links will open in a new window. You should finish is lessthan a period.

  • On a separate sheet of paper, take the Editing Quiz.
  • Turn it in to me with both partners’ names.
  • Shoot and edit  three (3) 10 second videos that imitate the Pudovkin exercise. Remember, you really only need 4 clips, since you’re going to reuse one 3 times.
    • Decide which three emothions or feelings you’re going to demo.
    • Use a FlipCam to shoot three (3) 10-second videos which, through editing, demonstarte the three emotions.
    • Go to the Procedures Page for instructions on starting a new project in Adobe, and for transferring your footage to the computer for editing.
    • This is due Friday, 2/3.
